A NSW police officer has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

In March, police began investigating the conduct of a senior constable during a vehicle search on the Central Coast.

The 43-year-old officer was later issued with a court attendance notice for offences including acting to pervert the course of justice and accessing or modifying restricted data in a computer.

The man - who is attached to a Northern Region command - will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on November 4.

The man's duty status is under review.
