NSW adds more than 500 cases as testing climbs past 90,000

MORE than 500 COVID-19 cases have joined the NSW tally despite the state dodging any more deaths in the latest update.

NSW Health said there were 516 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday, detected through 90,223 tests.

Across the state 158 people are in hospital and 24 require intensive care.

The Omicron COVID-19 variant has been found in two overseas travellers who arrived in Sydney.

Vaccination rates remain steady, with 93 per cent of NSW adults fully protected.

94.7 per cent have received a single dose, which in those aged 12 to 15 first doses are 81 4 per cent and full coverage at 77.5 per cent.

A more comprehensive update, including regional breakdowns and Omicron figures, is due at 11am.
