Parramatta let NRLW finals berth slip through their fingers in 38-4 loss to Brisbane

The NRLW finals are set with the Titans confirming their place in the top four with a narrow win over the Knights and Brisbane claiming the minor premiership while ending Parramatta's season.

Broncos 38 def Eels 4

Brisbane insist there is no reason why they can't win a fourth straight NRLW title if they fire in the finals after sounding a premiership warning against Parramatta.

The Broncos added another minor premiership to their women's trophy cabinet on Sunday, easily accounting for Parramatta 38-4 and ending the Eels season.

The win ensured they would finish ahead of St George Illawarra at the top of the table, booking a date with the Sydney Roosters next Sunday.

But in a regular season where the Broncos have been properly pushed for the first time in the competition's four-year history, the minor premiership means little to them.

"It's a nice thing to win along the way but it's not the trophy you start trying to win," coach Kelvin Wright said.

"I was more focused (late in the game) on not letting in any more points (rather than for-and-against).

"It took a back seat. We've got another big game next week "

In a closer season, the Broncos beat the Dragons 22-18 in round three and were then shocked by Gold Coast in round four.

But they weren't challenged on Sunday from the moment Emily Bass scored off a nice left-to-right movement in the third minute.

Amy Turner and Shenae Ciesiolka also bagged first-half tries, before Hagiga Mosby went from provider to scorer in the second.

Captain Ali Brigginshaw then put the icing on the cake, in the Broncos first game at Suncorp Stadium since their maiden NRLW game in 2018.

"There's been some really good performances from a lot of teams," Wright said.

"We have full belief in our squad that when we play to our ability there is no reason why we can't win.

"Going into next week we'll have to bring our A game to put in the best performance we can."

Meanwhile there are greater concerns at Parramatta, with star fullback Botille Vette-Welsh suffering a suspected ACL injury early in the loss.

Any such blow would rule her out of State of Origin for NSW, and leave her in severe danger of missing the end-of-season NRLW competition.

Titans 14 def Knights 10

Gold Coast have survived some nervous moments to book an NRLW finals berth in their debut season, thanks to a 14-10 defeat of Newcastle.

The Titans needed a win or a loss by less than nine points against the winless Knights at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday to confirm a top-four spot and a potential semi-final against three-time defending champions Brisbane, who they upset last weekend.

But, trailing 6-0 with 30 minutes to play and their attacks repeatedly snuffed out, the Titans looked out of answers.

Captain Brittany Breayley-Nati delivered though, her short grubber kick popping up for Jessika Elliston's crucial try.

Winger Hailee-Jay Maunsell then flirted with the touchline to score minutes later, only for Knights winger Katelyn Vaha'akolo to respond immediately.

Gold Coast had the final say, Karina Brown crossing as the Knights' defence was finally spread too thin.

The Knights opened the scoring through Paige Parker, Maunsell watching a horror bounce go over her head and into Parker's path in the fourth minute.

The Titans would have been staring down a 12-0 scoreline if not for April Ngatupuna.

The forward chased tremendously to pull down a rampaging Phoebe Desmond just short of the line, after the Knights' prop had broken the line and charged from 45m out.

"They're those individual moments where we find the energy and turn up, but then don't find it to support a pass or chase a kick," Titans coach Jamie Feeney said.

"If we do that next week we'll make up the numbers, but the four teams who get through, everyone's shown they can beat everyone.

"It's great for the game, the fans; my phone's buzzing telling us how good it was to watch even though I'm losing hair by the day."
