The Tigers got their 2018 season off to a stunning start, with a game-winning conversion from Tuimoala Lolohea with 90 seconds left earning them a win over the Roosters.
In a tight game where both sides struggled to break through, the Roosters looked to have won it after a second half try to Blake Ferguson put them 8-4 up.
But with time ticking down, the Tigers got the ball close to the Roosters line, then spread the ball right — Lolohea passed the ball, it came off the shoulder of intechange player Michael Chee-Kam, looped up in the air, and into the path of Thompson, who managed to stay in bounds to touch down in the corner.
Lolohea had missed an easy goal earlier in the match., but he landed the conversion from the sideline, with the ball brushing the upright and falling in to give the Tigers the lead.
