NRL launches investigation into alleged racial abuse of Titans' Tyrone Peachey

The NRL's Integrity Unit is investigating allegations that Gold Coast's Tyrone Peachey was racially abused by a Newcastle Knights player in Friday night's match.

The Titans beat the Knights 36-6 at Robina, but Peachey could be heard on audio from the TV broadcast of the match speaking to referee Chris Sutton during the match, alleging he had been called a "black c***".

The referee asked whether he would make an official complaint, but Peachey declined.

The league has not spoken about the incident, but the Titans released a statement on Saturday morning, saying they would "work closely with the NRL Integrity Unit's investigation".

More to come.
