NRL club sends urgent SOS to Jackson Hastings as Wigan Warriors halfback is offered immediate deal down under

Jackson Hastings could be set to leave Wigan Warriors just one day before the start of the season.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Wests Tigers have offered the former Man of Steel a long-term deal to join the club with immediate effect.

It's claimed that the Tigers had shown interest in Hastings during the off-season and following two straight defeats at the start of the NRL season, the club has now moved to bring the 25-year-old to the club immediately.

Wests coach, former Wigan coach Michael Maguire, confirmed their interest in the halfback.

“Our management are looking at him,” Maguire told Sydney's Daily Telegraph.

“I am aware there are some conversations around him, yes."

The halfback will not feature in Wigan's opening round game with Leigh Centurions, with head coach Adrian Lam claiming he wasn't ready to take part.

“Due to Jackson’s delayed arrival, we feel that he needs another week of training in the team sessions and environment before he will be selected," Lam said.

“It’s great to have him back in training – he has lifted the intensity since his arrival. He’s an important part of our team and brings us a completely different dimension – we can’t wait for him to be back involved.

“Jackson will play a part in Friday’s game as part of the group and will be running messages to his teammates on and off the field.”

Hastings is under contract with the Warriors for the rest of the season, leaving Wigan in a position to demand a transfer fee. It's claimed that Wigan were reluctant to sell in the off-season, despite the Tigers' interest.
