NPHET recommend three new Covid-19 restrictions for all of Ireland as they detail worrying figures

No more than two households should meet at any one time, according to the latest NPHET recommendations.

The health experts met today and recommended three changes to how restrictions currently work in every county in Ireland.

The changes are as follows;

  • No more than two households should meet at any given time
  • People should only have a maximum of six visitors from one other household to their home
  • People can continue to meet socially in other settings, but only with people from one other household.
Dr Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health (Collins Agency, Dublin)

NPHET have further advised that Government extend the Level 2 measures currently in place for a further period of three weeks.

The original expiry dates for Donegal and Dublin's Level 3 restrictions still stand.

NPHET said they had to make the changes due to a further deterioration in the situation since last week.

The five day average for cases is now 412 with 18 counties having an increased incidence rate when compared with last week.

The reproduction number is estimated to be between 1.2 and 1.4, with the growth rate in cases between 4-5% per day.

NPHET today noted a particular concern in relation to trends in indicators of disease severity. There are 119 people in hospital with 20 in critical care and there were 32 deaths in September.

442 cases were confirmed on Thursday evening, with four more deaths.
