Workmen replace "maneki" plates with the names of kabuki actors above the entrance of the Minamiza Theatre in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, on Monday. The actors listed will appear in the December segment of the Kichirei Kaomise all-star event at the theater. Kichirei Kaomise is usually held only in December, but this year's show started on Nov. 1, marking the Minamiza's reopening after being closed for nearly three years for renovations.
