A good writer never, ever resorts to cliches, but really you couldn't make it up. After a week of panic buying and threatened petrol shortages the supermarkets have put prices down and now so has Esso.
This has to be the bizzarest week in the history of petrol supply. I shall remember it as an odd blip in which the Daily Mail called for a petrol panic and it happened, while actually there was plenty of the stuff and it was getting cheaper.
And the blockade really didn't happen. This is good news - for the protesters as well, since surely many more people will be willing to listen to them now than would have done had they cut our petrol off.
