Now Iran is mocking Trump over the Strait of Hormuz

  • Tehran has asserted that the Strait of Hormuz is its "greatest instrument of power" in ongoing peace talks, a claim made while mocking Donald Trump .
  • Iran 's chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that further clauses of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) would not be initiated until the initial five points are fully stabilised.
  • Ghalibaf described the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran controls, as a "divine gift" and a crucial negotiating tool.
  • The 14-point MoU includes provisions for the safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days and the termination of US sanctions against Iran.
  • Despite the presence of Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in Qatar for mediation, Iran has maintained that no direct talks with the US are scheduled, suggesting a stalled peace process.
