For many servers, tips are the real way they make money—and can often be a lot more lucrative than their actual wage.
TikToker and server Madison Jones (@madison_c_jones) exemplifies this trend perfectly, as she shared the eye-boggling amount she earned in tips from just one night.
“I cannot believe this,” she said. “This is insane.”
She began by walking viewers through the figures from the night, which included a $55.24 tip share, $1,866.36 in sales, and an additional $62.34 that the restaurant owed her.
Then, she got to her tips.
As she piled dollar bill after dollar bill on the table, the total amount was $353, which, combined with the money Texas Roadhouse owed her, came to $415.34.
“I served 19 tables tonight,” she said. “So that means my average was $21.86. I’m so proud of myself. I’ve been wanting to break that $20 average, and I finally did.”
She went on to explain that this was all from an eight-hour shift, and that her hourly wage is $51.92.
“I literally cannot believe this,” she said. ‘This is an insane night, and I’m so thankful and so happy right now.”
She continued, “My 331, which is a six-top that extends to a nine-top, tipped me $273.11; my 322, which is a four-top, made me $65.23 tonight. And my 333, which is a six-top, that can also be a seven-top, tipped me $132.24. This is insane. Off my 331, I had an eight-top, and they tipped me $129. It was crazy.”
“I am so, so incredibly thankful,” she concluded. “Incredible.”
The video amassed 88,900 views.
In numerous follow-ups, Madison shared more tips she had amassed, including $119 for one night, $100 for another night, and a total of $882 over two days.

Commenters were divided
In the comments, fellow Texas Roadhouse workers, who are otherwise known as ‘Roadies,’ shared their own tips. “My last shift at Texas Roadhouse, I worked a volume and I made $580” one wrote.
“Roadie here,” a second added. “I made $436 on a double on a Saturday.”
While a third shared, “On a Saturday double , before I quit, I made over $600 after tip share.”
However, other commenters were unsure about whether Madison should have posted this.

“So this trend needs to stop,” a fourth comment read. “It used to be a secret how much servers made. We liked it that way. Now everyone seeing these videos will start to tip less. Why would a guy making $500 a week want to help you make that in one day? This isn’t helping the people who work for tips.”
While a fifth commenter said, “Girl do not post this! No one needs to know what you’re making. That’s between you and God! Your job, your customers, and your circle do not need to know your true income.”

The Texas Roadhouse wedding debacle
However, not all Texas Roadhouse servers have had such a positive experience.
Former server Sabra (@sabrateel) went viral after sharing how Texas Roadhouse almost derailed her wedding day by trying to make her come in for a shift 15 minutes before she walked down the aisle.
Despite giving the establishment two months’ notice and even mentioning her wedding through the interview process, this wasn’t enough, as her boss called her twice on her wedding day to try and pressure her into working a shift.
Sabra says she “didn’t last much longer” after that.
