BHOPAL: Last week it was former leader of opposition (LoP) Ajay Singh’s visit to the official residence of home minister Narottam Mishra that sparked political speculations. On Tuesday, another prominent Congress leader, Govind Singh, went to meet the BJP minister, starting another round of gossip in the political circles of Madhya Pradesh.
The common denominator between the two meetings is that both the Congress leaders who met the home minister, belong to the powerful ‘Thakur’ faction.
The former minister and senior Congress MLA from Lahar assembly seat, Singh met Mishra at his Char Imli residence here in the state capital on Tuesday afternoon. The closed-door meeting over tea lasted for more than 30 minutes, said sources.
However, the senior Congress leader said it was only a courtesy call. “The home minister spoke to me over telephone and said he wanted to meet me and inquire about PCC chief Kamal Nath’s health. I told him that I would be going towards his home and will come over to discuss the matter at his residence,” Singh said.
The Congress MLA further said, “The home minister has family relations with leaders of many parties. Anyone who wants to learn how to maintain relationships, should learn it from Narottam Mishra ji.”
The minister, who was praised by his political opponent said, “Dr Govind Singh ji is like an elder brother and a good friend. This was just a friendly visit but when two political persons meet, discussions will also be on political affairs”.
“We all keep meeting each other,” Mishra added.
