Now an old cattle truck becomes a coffee stop for young entrepreneurs

By Denny MacGee

A mobile coffee company started at the height of the pandemic is expanding to a third unit - created from an old cattle truck.

Renfrewshire entrepreneurs Ross Cameron and Connor Jervis have now set-up outside Bishopton Station to capture the commuter market.

One of the original Curly Coffee Company units, a converted horse box, will be fully refurbished with plans for it to travel round the country to festivals and outdoor events.

Ross,29, and 25-year-old Connor Jervis were previously managers for national coffee chains.

The Curly Coffee Company poured its first cuppa in August last year, opening two outlets in Houston.

The business immediately generated a huge number of customers, as local people and others from

further afield took to walking as part of their exercise regime during the early days of lockdown.

The opening of the new unit increases the business’s workforce from 13 to 15.

Connor said: “One of the aims of the business plan for the Bishopton unit was to take advantage of the footfall created by the rail link to and from Glasgow.

“But we have also seen a significant number of new customers who, in common with our two Houston units, are out walking to exercise or walking their dogs.

“It’s certainly early days, but we’re delighted with how the business is performing and with the positive and warm reaction we’ve had from customers in the first month or so since we open.”

Connor added; “We’re really excited about our plan to take “Piper”, the converted horse box that has been based at the Strathgryffe Tennis Club and Fitness Centre, around the country to festivals

and other outdoor events.

“We have to thank our customers for their fantastic support during the difficult times we have all gone through.

“But we hope they understand that as life, hopefully, gets back to some sort of normality, it is a real opportunity for us to expand the business and take the Curly Coffee Company brand to a wider

audience.”
