Now Aldi are selling ready-to-eat pigs in blankets

They are always the welcome addition to any special occasion roast - from Christmas Dinner to Boxing Day Lunch and Easter Sunday Roast.

But now supermarket chain Aldi has taken the much-loved pigs-in-blankets concept and made them much more accessible, and snackable.

Whereas once they would be crafted by your mum or your gran out of little sausages and wrapped in bacon, and then stores started selling them ready-wrapped but you still had to add them to the roast... now Aldi has taken it all one step further with an Easter makeover.

Find out where's delivering near you:

The store is selling them as cooked-and-ready-to-eat snacks in a packet that you could - and we're not suggesting this at all, just saying that it's possible- eat on the walk back home after your essential trip to the supermarket.

"We've taken the favourite Christmas staple, the humble Pig in Blanket, and given it a spring time makeover - who said they have to be reserved just for Christmas?" said an Aldi spokesperson.

They are £1.49 for a pack of 12.

"Made with seasoned pork sausage infused with sage and black pepper and hand wrapped in smoked streaky bacon, these Pigs in Blankets can be enjoyed either hot or cold," she added.

"Perfect as an addition to a garden picnic or lunch, these bite-size wonders are perfect for the whole family," she said.
