November weather forecast: Snow and 'Arctic blast' expected this month

As we head into a new, colder month the weather becomes more unsettled.

With 11 flood warnings in place for around the UK on the first day of November, let's take a look at what the rest of the month has in store for us.

The Met Office has predicted a four-day 'arctic blast' of cold weather and snow for this month.

Mainly wet weather will be seen across the UK.

The first week will see windy weather with occasional showers which will be the heaviest in the north. The weather is set to remain dry inland, however.

After this wet start to the week for the north, the rain and wind moves to the west and north west in the following days.

John Hammond, from Weathertrending, said: "The drop of 10C or more will be quite a shock as temperatures tumble after such warm conditions recently.

"Blustery northwesterly winds will make it feel chillier, with snow possible on northern mountains and perhaps to lower levels, with overnight frost possibly becoming more widespread.

"Atlantic fronts are expected to bring rain from the west by the weekend."

Drier spells will be most likely in the southeast. The northwest will expect windy weather.

Overall temperatures are above average.

In the final two weeks of the month, temperatures fall below average with a likelihood of wintry showers from the north and northwest at times. Stormy conditions do die down, however.

Clearer spells will likely give way to frost and fog and overall the final two weeks of the month will remain drier than average.
