November supermoon to shine brightest and closest of the year

A dazzling supermoon will light up the skies this week as it reaches its closest point to Earth — around 357,000 kilometres away.

November’s full moon, the second of three supermoons this year, will appear slightly larger and brighter than usual.

No special equipment is needed to view it, though the difference in size is subtle to the naked eye.

Supermoons occur several times a year due to the Moon’s elliptical orbit, with the final one of 2025 expected in December.
