Novak Djokovic vs Roman Safiullin LIVE: Wimbledon 2026 fourth round result and latest updates

Novak Djokovic vs Roman Safiullin LIVE

Novak Djokovic’s quest for a 25th Grand Slam of his career remains alive at Wimbledon after he downed Roman Safiullin in four sets on Centre Court. The No7 seed this year, Djokovic struggled at times against the hard-hitting Russian, who had two major scalps under his belt already at the All England Club having upset 12th seed Andrey Rublev and 24th seed Joao Fonseca.

But despite the qualifier’s no-fear mentailty against arguably the greatest to ever do it, he could not compete with the 39-year-old’s star quality, as Djokovic eclipsed Roger Federer’s recpord of men’s match wins at Wimbledon, as he took his tally to 106 with a 7-6(6) 6-3 3-6 6-3 victory in three hours and 25 minutes.

He was made to work by the world No132, and particularly in the fourth set when the Serb began to grow frustrated, as he received two warnings for his conduct as the Russian got on top of the contest. But ultimately, it did not faze him, and he marches on relentlessly into the last eight, where he faces either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Alejandro Davidoch Fokina.

What about the Russian?

The world No132 had to come through three rounds of qualifying at Roehampton to be here, and his fairytale has taken him all the way to Centre Court.

15th seed in the quallies, he had to come through a killer five-setter against the Swiss Jerome Kym in the final round before making it into the main draw.

There, he stunned compatriot and 12th seed Andrey Rublev in another dramatic five-set marathon, before another full-distance slog against Botic van der Zandschlup.

His last match was his most comfortable - surprisingly so - as he dumped out 24th seed Joao Fonseca 6-3 6-3 6-3 on Court No2.
