Nova Scotia reports new COVID-19 cases, 76 patients in specialized care units

HALIFAX — Nova Scotia is reporting 243 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today.

There were 96 cases discovered in the central zone, 59 in the eastern zone, 47 in the western zone and 41 in the northern zone.

Officials say a total of 76 people are in hospital in a specialized COVID-19 care unit.

They also say 13 COVID-19-positive patients are in intensive care.

Of those in specialized care units, 71 patients were admitted during the pandemic's most recent, Omicron-driven wave.

There are also 132 patients in hospital who tested positive for the disease but were admitted for other medical reasons or had COVID-19 but no longer require special care, and 148 people who contracted the virus after being admitted.
