In July, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari reportedly said that every time he lands in Delhi, he starts thinking about when to leave due to the capital’s toxic air. The minister said it was the responsibility of all stakeholders to curb emissions.
For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visited Gadkari’s home in Delhi. While the nearest monitoring stations at Mandir Marg and Dhyanchand Stadium pegged the AQI at 373 and 365, respectively, our air monitor showed the number at around 400.
The air quality was worse in other parts of the capital, including Ashok Vihar (437), Rohini (444), Wazirpur (474), Vivek Vihar (429), Shirdi Fort (410), Chandni Chowk (412), and Dwarka (418).
