Notts County winger hails wonder goal a ‘dream’

Sam Osborne said his first senior goal for Notts County was “something he dreamed of” as the winger opened his account in fine style.

The Magpies winger struck a superb effort in their 2-1 victory at Boreham Wood on Tuesday night with a rasping drive from the edge of the box.

It was only second start for the club this season with his last appearance coming in a win over Harrogate Town back in August.

The 20-year-old has waited patiently for his chance to return the side, but an injury to Jim O’Brien forced boss Neal Ardley into a tactical reshuffle which gave him an opportunity to impress.

And the Nottingham-born wideman was thrilled to cap off his return in style as he celebrated with the travelling Magpies fans in the away end.

“Scoring your first senior goal is something you dream of,” said Osborne who signed his first professional contract with the club last October.

“I was just buzzing to get it.

“I’d been told to come inside and get into a pocket of space, which is what I did.

“I got it, turned and just went for it.

“I ran straight to the fans and gave it some.

“Luckily the referee didn’t book me for it!”
