Neal Ardley hailed an “unbelievable” second-half performance from 10-man Notts County and insists their point against Northampton proves “they are giving everything” in their survival fight.
Kane Hemmings’ 13th goal of the season rescued a 2-2 draw for the Magpies in a game of high drama at Meadow Lane where Mitch Rose had put the hosts in command with a blistering drive.
But Daniel Powell levelled matters before half-time, before Notts were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when goalkeeper Ryan Schofield was sent off for a professional foul.
Sam Hoskins scored from the resulting free-kick only for Hemmings to level almost immediately when he tapped in a brilliant cross from Jon Stead.
The point Notts secured kept them level on points with third-bottom Yeovil and Ardley was thrilled with the character his side demonstrated.
“Our performance in the second half was unbelievable,” he said.

“We had to keep changing the formation to stay solid and the boys did it really well.
"Granted, we had to ride our luck at times, but the character and work ethic is a million miles away from what it was when I arrived in December, which is all we can ask.
“People say they want to see fight and the lads giving everything for the team, and that’s what they are doing.”
