Notts County vs Eastleigh player ratings - Rawlinson punished, strikers suffer

Notts County's promotion hopes suffered a setback as they were beaten 2-0 by Eastleigh.

The Magpies spurned two glorious chances to take the lead when Kyle Wootton and Regan Griffiths were denied by Joe McDonnell in the space of a minute.

Their profligacy was punished in the second half when ex-Notts defender Andrew Boyce headed in Ryan Hill's cross.

And the game was put beyond Notts' reach when Joe Tomlinson rifled in after a mistake by Connell Rawlinson.

Leigh Curtis was at the game and here are the player ratings...

Luke Steele: Kicking fell a bit short on occasion, but was largely comfortable due to the excellent performance of the defenders in front of him. A steady performance. 6

Dion Kelly-Evans: Defended well and attacked with intensity. The only complaint you could have was that some of his crossing let him down. But such a reliable performer. 7

Connell Rawlinson: Stepped into midfield and into the final third on occasion. Defended really well in the first half, but made a gaff for Eastleigh's second. 6

Mark Ellis: So dominant in the first half but was substituted in the second half as Notts had to go for broke in the search of a result. A mixed night. 6

Ben Turner: Won the majority of his aerial challenges and dinked a couple of cute passes into the strikers. Missed a terrific chance after the break. 6

Adam Chicksen: Really brave with his attacking positions and delivered a peach of a cross early on that was begging to be tapped in. 6

Jake Reeves: Very busy in the heart of midfield and created a super chance for Kyle Wootton midway through the first half. Influence waned after the interval. 6

Michael Doyle: The captain ran the show at times in the first half and rarely gave the ball away in what was a solid performance. 7

Regan Griffiths: Should have scored with a header in the first half but was substituted in the second. Did okay. 6

Kyle Wootton: Caused the Eastleigh centre-backs no end of problems with his movement in the first half. Badly needs a goal. 6

Lewis Knight: Pace was always a threat and forced a good save from Joe McDonnell early on in the game. But was replaced in the second half. 6

Enzio Boldewijn (Griffiths 60): Made a couple of penetrating runs in the time he was on the pitch. 5

Ruben Rodrigues (Knight 69): Didn't make any impact on the game. 5

Jimmy Knowles (Ellis 78): Clear cut chances were few and far between. 5
