Notts County 'very close' to landing two transfers as Ian Burchnall issues signings update

Notts County are hoping to seal their next two summer signings over the course of the next week, head coach Ian Burchnall has confirmed.

Speaking after the 2-0 friendly win over Coalville, the Notts chief was quizzed on transfers as the Magpies look to add to their three additions so far.

The centre of midfield is a big priority for Notts, who have taken Lamine Kaba Sherif and William Hondermarck on trial.

But Burchnall said he expected further movement in the next seven days having been keen to land another centre forward.

"We are really close now," he said.

"I think we'll probably have a couple over the line certainly by this time next week, but I would think early next week.

"I'm hoping to have a couple completed. We've worked really hard on it now and I feel quite confident that we're going to get there with a couple.

"I'm not going to say which positions, but we're working really hard. I've said before that we obviously need to strengthen through the middle of the pitch through the central midfield areas and centre forward."

Notts have already splashed out an undisclosed sum for full-back Joel Taylor who arrived from Chesterfield which underlines the ambitions of Magpies owners Alexander and Christoffer Reedtz.

But the next two through the door are likely to be free transfers.

Burchnall added: "Nothing's free but there are no fees attached on the ones that we're looking at at the moment.

"But like I said before, if there is a fee attached, we just kind of measure up the whole package to decide if we think it's the right thing so we're not kind of hamstrung by that.

"It's more to make sure that we get the right people through the door."
