Notts County to use funds raised by Nottingham Forest fans to support family of former employee

Notts County will use funds raised by Nottingham Forest fans to help support the family of a former employee who passed away recently.

Reds supporters donated £1,535.44 for unpaid Magpies staff last month shortly before the club was taken over.

With new owners Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz having paid all employees themselves, the two clubs have agreed to split the money between crowdfunding efforts for Stuart Brothers’ family and Nottingham University Hospitals Charity.

Brothers was a lifelong Notts fan and their former media officer. He lost his battle with cancer recently, leaving behind young sons Connor, Devon and Riley.

Notts will be donating a third of their Forest collection money to his family and there will also be a minute's applause before tonight's game against Solihull Moors kicks off.

Furthermore, Brothers' favourite band, Funeral for a Friend, will be coming out of retirement to play two special shows to raise money for his family.

Notts’ remaining funds will be donated to Nottingham University Hospitals Charity, who in turn will distribute the money to two wards at the Queen’s Medical Centre.

The first, E39 Daycare Oncology, was where young supporter George Whitehead received treatment for cancer before recently ringing the bell and returning to Meadow Lane as a mascot for the club’s televised match against Barnet.

The second ward to benefit will be E40 Neurology and Spinal, frequented by another young fan, Maisie-Grace Titherley.
