Notts County to benefit from Premier League's £200,000 pledge

The Premier League has provided the National League with £200,000 in funding to help them conclude their playoff campaign.

Notts County are one of six clubs hoping to win promotion to the Football League with games set to go ahead later this month.

Further playoff games are taking place in the National League North and South and the Premier League is eager to help offset some of the costs involved.

Playoff contenders are having to pay for their own coronavirus testing and the Premier League chief executive Richard Masters says was pleased to help out.

"The Premier League is a big supporter of the wider game and we will continue our commitments in this area despite our significant financial losses and ongoing uncertainty," he said.

“In addition, we will provide £200,000 to The National League to help them to conclude their season and give more than £1 million to the WSL and the Women’s Championship to restart next season.”

National League Chief Executive Michael Tattersall added: “We are pleased to receive the generous donation by the Premier League towards our end-of-season play-offs.”

Notts have yet to receive a firm date as to when their playoff game will take place although it is widely believed that it will be on July 24/25.

Neal Ardley's players are back in training and have so far posted no positive coronavirus tests in two weeks.

They will play the winner of Yeovil and Barnet at Meadow Lane and it is expected that games will be screened live by BT Sport.
