Notts County suffocated by Solihull Moors says Neal Ardley

Neal Ardley admitted Notts County were “suffocated” by Solihull Moors after they were held to a goalless draw at Meadow Lane.

In a dour contest, the Magpies created the best chances with goalkeeper Ryan Boot having to save from Enzio Boldewijn and Kristian Dennis.

Damien McCrory could have won the game in the last minute but headed over the bar, but clear-cut chances were few and far between.

And boss Ardley admitted that Solihull’s direct approach under manager Tim Flowers made life difficult for Notts in their attempt to find any attacking rhythm.

“It was a poor game,” he said.

“They’ve not been on a great run and are a good team.

“I sort of knew what was coming before. Tim  changed his shape slightly to come away with a clean sheet.

“They turned us and played the percentages, and they do it brilliantly.

“While we wanted the three points, with some of the goals we have conceded recently, the clean sheet was a positive.

“That nearly enabled us to nearly win the game in the last minute.

“The game got suffocated. We didn’t find a way to get our game going.”
