Notts County suffer double injury blow as details of Mark Ellis wounds emerge

Notts County will be without experienced duo Alex Lacey and Jim O’Brien for Tuesday night’s crunch clash at Eastleigh after they both picked up injuries at Torquay.

Lacey has been sent for a scan due to a problem with his pelvis which forced him off at half-time of the 2-2 draw at Plainmoor.

O’Brien lasted 68 minutes of the National League clash but suffered a tight groin.

While it is not deemed serious, tomorrow night’s clash against Ben Strevens’ side has come too soon for the Notts midfielder.

Head coach Ian Burchnall said: “Jim was getting some treatment today. I don’t think he felt it was too bad. He just felt a tightness in there as he made a run through on goal in the second half.

“I think he’s quite smart. He knows his own body. Hopefully, that’s not too bad.

“As for Alex Lacey, I am not sure. We’ve sent him for a scan today so we’ll know a little bit more after that.

"I said after the game, when you’re playing so well to have to make two enforced changes rather than tactical changes is always a bit frustrating.”

While Notts are set to be without O’Brien and Lacey, centre-back Mark Ellis should be involved despite suffering a broken nose and needing 20 stitches at the weekend.

The on-loan Tranmere defender suffered the injury following a challenge with Gulls substitute Josh Umerah who was dismissed in the game for two bookable offences.

Ellis posted a picture on his Instagram account on Saturday night of him waiting to be seen by medical staff at hospital, but Notts are expecting him to be available tomorrow night.
