Notts County have signed promising Wigan defender Adam Long on loan.
The centre-back has initially signed for a month and will go straight into the squad which travels to Hartlepool on Saturday.
Notts have been in desperate need of defensive reinforcements due to a multitude of injury problems with four players currently on the sidelines.
Ben Turner, Damien McCrory, Zoumana Bakayogo and Alex Lacey are all on the treatment table which has left Ardley's options increasingly threadbare.
With Notts chasing glory in both the league and the FA Trophy, the Magpies boss has now turned to Long who could well make his debut against Pools.
Long, who is 19, has made one first-team appearance for Wigan which came in an EFL Trophy clash against Middlesbrough two years ago.
