Notts County secure new training ground in time for pre-season return

Notts County have secured a new training ground in time for the players' return for pre-season.

The club has sealed a deal for a new base at Nottingham Trent University until September which they will use on Monday when the squad report back for training.

It is undoubtedly a positive for manager Neal Ardley and his assistant Neil Cox as they look to prepare for the National League campaign.

Notts had used Basford's facilities last season which saw them given access to their own training pitch, which they had responsibility for maintaining.

They could also use their state of the art 4G surface, but the Magpies opted against extending the agreement back in April in favour of a new facility.

Earlier this month, Basford chairman Chris Munroe said he was "staggered" to see Notts leave such a "great facility".

The club has looked at many options over the course of the summer as they hunt for a new home to train with Highfields among those that have been considered.
