Notts County season ticket holders can watch Basford United for free

Notts County season ticket holders unable to travel to away games are being offered the chance to watch Basford United for free.

The BetVictor Northern Premier League side announced the initiative through their Twitter account today as they look to galvanise further support for the season.

All Notts season ticket holders will gain free entry to Basford's home games starting with their clash against Radcliffe Borough this weekend as they look to build on a promising opening to the campaign.

The Magpies are away at Yeovil on the same day as Neal Ardley's side look to make it five games unbeaten following their 5-1 thrashing of Chorley on Monday.

Chairman Chris Munroe said on Twitter: "Just advising loyal @Basfordutdfc supporters you know you are appreciated, and this is why our season and match tickets are the lowest at Step Three in the country.

"We expect a very low take-up but view as worth a try to swell gates."

Basford are currently ninth in the table and managed by former Notts first-team coach and former Nottingham Forest defender Steve Chettle.

They have won two and lost two of their opening league games so far as they look for promotion.

And they will hope that increased attendances helped by Notts fans will lead to further positive results on the pitch.
