Notts County scoop double National League award as monthly winners announced

Notts County's Macaulay Langstaff and head coach Luke Williams have been named the National League's player and manager of the month for their performances during March.

The Magpies went unbeaten in the league last month, winning four of those matches including wins over Eastleigh and Altrincham as they continued their titanic battle with Wrexham at the top of the table.

It’s Williams’ second Manager of the Month trophy of the season having won the October prize, while Langstaff has become the first player in history to be named Player of the Month three times in a single campaign.

For Williams, it was a tricky month laced with injuries, international call-ups and the untimely recall of Connor Lemonheigh-Evans. Despite all that, he brilliantly kept the team on track to end the month on top of the National League table.

Langstaff scored in all six of those fixtures, captaining the side in the wins over Dorking Wanderers and Eastleigh during the absence of Kyle Cameron, finishing the month with eight league goals.

His final strike of the month in the 2-0 win at the J. Davidson Stadium proved a memorable one, surpassing Tom Keetley's 92-year club record of 39 goals in a league season.

At the beginning of the season the Notts number nine made history by becoming the first player ever to win back-to-back Player of the Month awards - and he will be hoping to claim his fourth trophy come the end of April.
