Notts County's winding-up petition set to be dismissed as new owners embark on mending the Magpies

Notts County’s new owners have taken the first steps in sorting out the financial problems at Meadow Lane with a winding-up petition set to be dismissed.

Christoffer Reedtz, who purchased the club along with brother Alexander on Friday, says the issue is one of their priorities as well as paying staff a backlog of two month’s wages.

The Magpies were understood to be back in court yesterday having made  an application to have the petition dismissed that was issued due to a tax debt of at least £250,000.

That will also help the club come out of a transfer embargo which is currently preventing Neal Ardley from making any signings.

Christoffer confirmed: “It has all been sorted out.

“That should all be fine. There was a court hearing yesterday.”

The non-payment of tax had forced Notts to attend the High Court on three occasions with a judge giving them an extension each time in order to allow a sale to be completed.

It was feared that had the club not been sold prior to Wednesday’s High Court hearing that Notts could have been liquidated as a result.

But following the Reedtz brothers’ takeover, it is one of a number of financial issues which will be addressed following a turbulent period at Meadow Lane.
