Notts County's promotion rivals sign ex-Lincoln City striker

Notts County's promotion rivals Sutton United have bolstered their attack by snapping up former Lincoln City forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith.

Adebayo-Smith was released by the Imps last month after manager Michael Appleton admitted he wasn’t part of his long-term plans having initially been predicted to have a bright future at Sincil Bank.

The teenager, who was born in America, had several trials following his departure, but Sutton have moved quickly to sign the forward as they look to continue their excellent start to the campaign.

Adebayo-Smith made just one senior appearance for Lincoln when he started the 2-2 draw against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy two years ago.

But he only lasted 63 minutes before being replaced by then manager Danny Cowley.

During his time at Lincoln, he spent time on loan at Boston United, Gainsborough Trinity and Grantham Town.

Sutton will be hoping for a big impact from the 19-year-old with Sutton, who Notts beat 1-0 last month, currently in the top three of the National League table.

He will link-up with former Magpies left-back Rob Milsom who, like Sutton, has enjoyed a fine start to the campaign.
