Notts County's out of contract players set to receive letters about their futures

Notts County’s out of contract players are set to receive a little more clarity regarding their futures this week.

It is understood letters will be sent to those whose deals run out this summer informing them whether they will be retained or released.

That must happen by the third Thursday in May, although it is believed the club has been unable to offer any assurances about new contracts while a sale of the club is being completed.

Nine good reasons for Notts County fans to be optimistic about next season

The list of out of contract players at Notts is a considerable one with the likes of Elliott Hewitt, Jon Stead, David Vaughan, Lewis Alessandra and Rob Milsom - who have all been regulars over the last two years - all free to leave the club this summer.

Influential midfielder Jim O’Brien would have triggered a year’s extension to his current deal had Notts remained in the Football League but he is also now free to exit Meadow Lane.

The same applies to Michael Doyle who has another year left on his contract at Notts, but does have a gentleman’s agreement in place that allows him to leave if he wishes.

Tom Crawford set for Notts County return after Wembley heartbreak

There are plenty of players still under contract for next season, however, with winger Enzio Boldewijn,  defender Matt Tootle, midfielder Mitch Rose, top scorer Kane Hemmings and striker Kristian  Dennis among them.
