Notts County's new owners to make paying staff ultimate priority

New Notts County chairman Christoffer Reedtz hopes to pay the club’s staff on Monday after admitting it is the club’s “highest priority”.

The Danish businessman and his brother Alexander were officially unveiled as the club’s new owners on Saturday, but have many issues to address after completing their purchase of the club from previous chairman Alan Hardy.

Staff were not paid again on Friday which was the second consecutive month they have not had their wages with the Supporters’ Association and Lifeline,  the club’s fundraising organisation, raising cash for those affected.

There is also an unpaid tax bill of at least £250,000 to be settled which saw HMRC issue a winding-up order, although the Post understands steps have already been taken to have that dismissed in the High Court on Wednesday.

But Christoffer says the biggest item on the agenda is to pay the staff who have shown incredible spirit during the club’s times of crisis.

Asked when the staff could expect to be paid, he said: “Monday, unless anything unforeseen happens.

“As soon as the money from the transaction goes into the club account, the very first priority is to pay those outstanding wages.

“I totally understand that it has been very difficult for everyone in receiving their salaries so that is the highest priority.”
