Notts County's injury problems continue to bite with four players to miss Solihull Moors clash

Notts County will be without  four players for their trip to Solihull Moors tomorrow as the Magpies continue to be hit by injury problems.

Defender Ben Turner will certainly be missing with the former Mansfield centre-back still out of action because of a hamstring problem.

Midfielder Jim O’Brien, who has had stitches in his leg because of an eight-inch gash, will also be on the sidelines for the National League clash.

Regan Booty is still struggling with a back problem and the club is not expecting the midfielder to recover in time while  winger Sean Shields is also unavailable after picking up a knock.

Notts also picked up some slight knocks in the win over Maidenhead on Boxing Day and assistant manager Neil Cox says they will leave it late before naming the team as they assess the walking wounded.

“We’ve got a few knocks at the moment,” he said.

“We won’t know the side until we meet at the hotel.

“Everybody will travel and see who is fit and not fit to play.”

With their trip to Solihull their second game in 48 hours, Notts’ squad is being tested to its limit and Cox admitted it does have an impact on the younger members of the squad.

“It does take its toll especially for the younger players who are not used to such a schedule,” he said.

“They are used to under-23 or youth team football.

“But the senior players such as Michael Doyle are used to it and their bodies can handle it.”
