Notts County rocked by major injury blow

Notts County have been rocked by the news that on-loan Sheffield United defender Sam Graham is set to miss the rest of the season.

The centre-back ruptured his Achilles in training on Tuesday when trying to clear a cross and he was subsequently taken to hospital.

Graham revealed his season was at an end via his Instagram feed last night and the club has since confirmed the news.

“We're saddened to confirm that @samgraham1221 has returned to @SheffieldUnited after suffering a ruptured Achilles in training,” the club tweeted.

“Sam is likely to miss the rest of the season and we wish him all the best in his recovery."

Graham’s injury will come as a blow to manager Neal Ardley who recruited the centre-back on loan from the Premier League Blades in the summer.

He was excellent in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Halifax and had been a regular starter since his switch from Bramall Lane.

With a trip to Bromley this weekend, Notts also have concerns over Ben Turner, another centre-back who is also nursing a calf problem.

Should he miss out then Pierce Bird is likely to return to the squad unless Notts decide to seek a replacement for Graham in the transfer market.
