Notts County prospect rejects new deal and decides to leave Meadow Lane

Notts County prospect Sam Osborne has rejected the offer of a new contract in order to pursue regular first team football.

The 21-year-old academy graduate turned down the chance to stay at Meadow Lane after making 13 appearances last season.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life,” Osborne told the club website.

“Having been at Notts for so long, and being a Beeston lad, the club is a massive part of me and always will be.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities the manager gave me last season and the memories of my two goals and the part I played in helping us reach Wembley and the Trophy semis will live with me forever.

“But I’m at an age where my priority has to be getting regular game time and, following discussions with my family, friends and the club, I’ve decided the best option is for me to move on.

“I would like to thank everyone, including the fans, for the incredible support they’ve shown me. There’s no doubt in my mind that Notts are moving in the right direction and I’m sure it won’t be long until we’re back in the EFL.

“I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved at Meadow Lane, including winning back-to-back Young Player of the Season awards, and I’m now looking forward to continuing my development by playing more regular first-team football.”

Osborne made 19 appearances for the club scoring two spectacular goals.
