Notts County produce excellent fight back to snatch draw against Hartlepool

Wes Thomas inspired a fine comeback from Notts County as they came from two goals down to snatch a point at home to Hartlepool.

The Magpies went a goal behind when Gavin Holohan's effort was deflected past Sam Slocombe at his near post.

The visitors were a danger on the counter attack and they added a second when Luke James took advantage of a slip from Connell Rawlinson to to receive the ball in the box and curl into the far corner.

Notts were being frustrated by Pools but they gave themselves a lifeline just before the break when Thomas' bravery saw him beat Ben Killip to a challenge to prod it into an empty net.

Boss Neal Ardley threw on Regan Booty at the break in an attempt to find an equaliser and it proved an inspired change as the midfielder crossed for Thomas to head home his second of the afternoon.

Notts then went in search of a winner with Mitch Rose seeing a shot deflected over the bar, while Ben Turner also headed into the arms of Killip from a corner.

Kyle Wootton headed wide at the death as Notts were forced to settle for a point.
