Notts County players hold talks with chairman Alan Hardy

Notts County's players met with owner Alan Hardy yesterday as they attempted to get answers about the club's future.

The Post revealed how the Magpies' squad were hoping to gain clarity about the financial problems at Meadow Lane which saw all staff go unpaid last Friday.

The club has also not been sold despite being on the market since January, although Hardy said on Monday that he expects a deal to be completed before their return to the High Court on July 10.

The players are also concerned about the club's ability to compete next season with Notts still under a transfer embargo that has prevented them from making a signing so far this summer.

It is understood some of these concerns were raised by the squad to Hardy on Thursday morning and it is believed he reiterated his belief that the club will be sold.

The news comes as Notts prepare to face their first pre-season friendly of the summer against Nuneaton Town tomorrow.

Neal Ardley will play the likes of striker Kane Hemmings, winger Enzio Boldewijn and defender Matt Tootle but with the squad limited in experienced personnel some of the young players are likely to start.
