Notts County players and staff paid on time as takeover deal continues

Notts County players and staff have been paid this month as the club continues to go through the takeover process  ahead of a crucial week at Meadow Lane.

With Notts back in the High Court over an unpaid tax bill next Wednesday, there had been fears that uncertainty over the club’s finances would prevent the payment of salaries.

But the Post understands everybody was paid on time in a month that has seen a number of clubs, such as Bury, Macclesfield and Bolton, struggle to pay their staff’s wages

In the meantime, a South African consortium are continuing their attempt to acquire Notts from current owner Alan Hardy who had put the cliub up for sale in January.

The group, which is being fronted by Terry Pritchard of CharterHCP, have given Hardy a completion list having agreed a price for Notts last Friday following late negotiations.

It remains to be seen whether the deal will be completed before the HMRC hearing next Wednesday  after the club was issued with a winding up order over a £200,000 tax bill in February.

Notts’ case was originally heard in April, but it was adjourned in order for a sale of the club to be completed.
