Notts County player ratings vs Wrexham as Ellis produces colossal performance

Notts County secured a tremendous 1-0 win at Wrexham to leave them one victory away from securing a National League play-off place.

The Magpies earned all three points courtesy of a stunning strike from Jake Reeves who thundered in from 25 yards which came in a dominant first half performance.

After the break, Wrexham upped the ante as they searched for an equaliser but could not find a way through past a rock solid Notts defence.

Leigh Curtis was at the Racecourse and here are his player ratings from a fine night for Ian Burchnall's Magpies.

Sam Slocombe: Didn't have a shot to save in the first 45 minutes but his kicking was on point and so was his handling. Is there a better goalkeeper in the National League? 7

Dion Kelly-Evans: Got plenty of joy down the right-hand side and dovetailed well with Jake Reeves. Defended superbly too. 8

Richard Brindley: Nice and calm in possession, read the danger well and cruised through the 90 minutes in what was a very good performance. 8

Mark Ellis: Never lost a header and has this incredible ability to hang in the air. Tranmere must have some amazing centre-backs to allow him out on loan. 9

Adam Chicksen: The back three all worked well together and he had another solid game in the heart of the defence. In good form. 8

Calvin Miller: Plenty of industry and skill on the left-hand side. Made countless runs which unsettled the Wrexham defence, but tired in the second half. 7

Michael Doyle: The Irishman was excellent in all the work that he did. Played with a great deal of authority and is the glue that holds it all together in midfield. 8

Jake Reeves: Was excellent from start to finish and was rewarded with a tremendous goal which showed his penchant for the spectacular. 9

Jim O'Brien: The Scot was a constant thorn for Wrexham's defence by taking up aggressive attacking positions in the first half. Was all about his defensive industry in the second. 8

Ruben Rodrigues: Nice and tidy in possession and never stopped looking for that decisive final pass to open up the Wrexham defence. Legs went weary after the break. 7

Kyle Wootton: Works so hard with his back to goal and his hold-up play is so vital when bringing others into play, but got dealt no favours by some strange refereeing decisions. 7

Elisha Sam (Rodrigues 66): Was forced to do the ugly side of the game late on as Wrexham turned the screw and more than played his part. 7

Damien McCrory (Miller 77): Was lovely to see him come on after such a nightmare season in terms of injuries and made some important tackles. 7,
