Notts County player ratings vs Rochdale as scouts flock to watch Ruben Rodrigues

Notts County's FA Cup dream is over for another season after Rochdale pinched a last-minute 2-1 win to book a second-round tie with League One Plymouth.

The visitors had gone ahead when Josh Andrews struck a fine volley as Ruben Rodrigues cracked the underside of the bar with a terrific strike from the edge of the box.

Notts were excellent in the second half and deservedly levelled when Aaron Nemane tapped in at the back post from a delightful cross from Adam Chicksen.

Ian Burchnall's side continued to create chances but Dale pinched the win when Jake Beesley glanced in a header that crept into the far corner.

Here Leigh Curtis assesses the players from the clash at Meadow Lane.

Anthony Patterson: Scuffed a couple of passes that put Notts under pressure. Not much he could do with the opening goal as it was a terrific finish from Josh Andrews. Made a belter of a save in the second half. 7

Richard Brindley: Caught the eye with a couple of brilliant passes and showed plenty of courage in possession. Didn't defend badly either. 7

Connell Rawlinson: Won some really important headers in his own box which showed good awareness and had a solid game in the heart of the back three. 7

Adam Chicksen: Was troubled a couple of times by Rochdale's high press early on but recovered and delivered a sublime cross that led to the equaliser. Was brilliant in the second half. 8

Aaron Nemane: Had a chance that was saved by Jay Lynch in the first half and looked lively going forwards. Covered plenty of miles on the right flank and scored the equaliser. 7

Matt Palmer: Very composed and measured in the heart of midfield and makes Notts tick. A lovely passer of the ball and is always dependable. 7

Frank Vincent: Provided plenty of energy in the heart of midfield whether he popped up on the left or the right. Not a bad performance by any means. 7

Ruben Rodrigues: Had scouts in the stands watching him and he came so close to giving them something to write when he cracked the bar with a delicious strike from the edge of the box. 7

Joel Taylor: Not as influential as he was in the first game between these sides but showed occasional flashes of real quality and has been such a good signing. 7

Kairo Mitchell: Had a header that went wide of the target and he certainly put in a shift alongside Kyle Wootton. 6

Kyle Wootton: Was really sharp early on and caused the Dale defence problems with his strong running. Put his absolute bundle into the game. 7

Subs

Callum Roberts (Mitchell 57): Was excellent when he came on and played a key role in the equaliser. 7

Dion Kelly-Evans (Nemane 72): Showed plenty of energy when he came on. 7
