Notts County play-off dates set as they chase historic EFL return

Notts County will begin their quest to make a historic return to the Football League at the first attempt later this month.

The Magpies will play their play-off semi-final at Meadow Lane on Saturday July 25 in front of the BT Sports cameras after the National League finally confirmed the dates.

They will face the winner of Yeovil or Barnet, knowing a win will secure their place at Wembley for the final on August 2.

Neal Ardley's side are chasing a historic return to the EFL just one year after they were relegated from the Football League.

Notts are back in training and ramping up their preparations, but are having to pay for their own coronavirus testing although the Premier League has pledged to help with a £200,000 in funding for National League clubs.

The FA is yet to ratify the National League's decision to go ahead with the play-offs but there are expected to be no problems.

The semi-final will kick-off at a time of 5pm and the final will be held at 3pm.

Both games will be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.
