Notts County on the lookout for new training ground

Notts County are on the lookout for a new training ground after deciding not to commit to another deal with Basford United.

The Magpies had used the facilities at the Northern Premier League club last season in which they had their own pitch and access to a 4g surface.

But it has not been deemed a viable long term solution ahead of Notts' return to pre-season training in three weeks' time.

Basford had posted a picture of the training pitch Notts had used last season on their Facebook site which is now set to be used by Steve Chettle's side.

It leaves Notts looking for a new base, but the South African consortium hoping to seal a takeover for the club in the coming week have already chosen a site they would like to use but its identity is being kept under wraps.

In an interview with BusinessDesk.com on Monday, Notts chairman and owner Alan Hardy said the sale of the National League club was “imminent” having put Notts on the market last January.

The news comes in what is a big week for Notts off the pitch with the club back in the High Court on Wednesday over an unpaid tax bill of £200,000.

The case was originally heard in April but was adjourned to allow the sale of the club to go through.
