Notts County mourn death of former striker Kevin Randall

Notts County paid tribute to their former striker Kevin Randall today after the former Magpies favourite passed away, aged 73.

Randall made more than 100 league appearances for the club between 1972 and 1976  and was a popular player with the supporters.

Under the legendary manager Jimmy Sirrel, Randall averaged a goal in every three games.

In a statement on their website today, Notts said: "Notts County are saddened to learn of the passing of former player Kevin Randall.

"The club would like to extend their sympathies to Kevin's loved ones at this very sad time."

Notts County players and staff paid on time as Alan Hardy continues talks to sell Meadow Lane club

Randall also played for Chesterfield where he made 258 appearances, scoring 96 goals from 1966 to 1972. He also played 66 games for Mansfield.

He also spent a season managing Chesterfield between 1987/1988 after a spell as York City boss where he had ended his playing career.

In more recent years, Randall worked under former Magpies boss Neil Warnock,  who appointed him as chief scout at QPR, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.

He then linked up with Warnock again in 2012 at Leeds United.
