Notts County manager Neal Ardley targets dream FA Cup run

Notts County manager Neal Ardley has targeted a dream FA Cup run after they made it through to Monday’s first-round draw with victory over Belper.

The Magpies emerged 2-1 winners at Meadow Lane but not before being given a scare by the visitors who took the lead through a fabulous Danny Gordon strike.

The BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One East sensed they could cause an upset, but Enzio Boldewijn levelled before the break.

It was then left to Kyle Wootton to seal victory for the Magpies who have tasted just two defeats in their last 15 games.

They now go into the hat for Monday’s draw as ball number 58 and Ardley hopes it is the start of a special cup run.

“It’s huge, and we want to get to the third round,” he said.

“It didn’t matter how we got there and we are in the hat.

“A good cup run would be great.

“We want to have a good season and that can be judged in many different ways.

“Winning becomes a habit. We are trying to create that here.

“If we can have a good couple of months, you never know we could have an exciting tie to look forward  too.”
