Notts County make double signing

Notts County have continued to strengthen their squad by completing the signings of defender Richard Brindley and winger Sean Shields.

Former Rotherham full-back Brindley has joined on a free transfer having been without a club while Shields arrives on a season-long loan from Ebbsfleet United.

Boss Neal Ardley had spoken after Tuesday’s goalless draw against Solihull as to how he was looking to add further signings and both players will feature in the squad to face Sutton on Saturday.

Brindley  (26) arrives to give competition at right-back with the defender having played in the Championship with Rotherham United.

He has also had spells at Scunthorpe, Oxford, Colchester and Barnet having started his career at Premier League side Norwich City.

Shields is a winger who started his career at Tottenham and has played for a host of non-league clubs including Dagenham, Maidstone and Boreham Wood.

He did not fit into  Ebbsfleet’s plans as Garry Hill plays a 3-5-2 formation and Shields is an orthodox winger.

Shields is also a former Northern Ireland under-21 international.
