Notts County legend Neil Warnock leaves Cardiff City

Notts County legend Neil Warnock has left Cardiff City.

The former Magpies boss was in the final year of his contract and stated that he would not carry on after the end of this season.

The Bluebirds are currently 14th in the Championship and were beaten by Bristol City at the weekend.

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman said: "On behalf of Cardiff City Football Club, I thank Neil for his invaluable contribution to the future of this great club.

"He not only gained promotion in his first season but played a pivotal role in uniting the fans and the club. I am personally upset by his departure and wish him the very best for the future."

Cardiff have now begun the search for a replacement for Warnock who leaves after 144 games in charge, with 59 wins, 29 draws and 56 defeats.

In his second season with Cardiff he guided them to promotion to the Premier League in the 2017-18 campaign, but they were relegated after just one season.

Warnock (70)  is highly revered at Meadow Lane for taking the Magpies into the top flight after winning back to back promotions which earned their place in Division One in the 1991-92 season.
