Notts County issue statement as they avoid being wound up in High Court

Notts County say they "understand supporters' frustrations" regarding the club's ownership, but insist "strict confidentiality measures must be adhered to".

The troubled Magpies avoided being wound up at the High Court today over an unpaid tax bill to allow extra time for the club's sale to go through.

A South African consortium is currently the favourite to buy the National League side from current owner Alan Hardy, with reports last night claiming a price of around £6m has been agreed.

Fans are getting increasingly anxious to see a deal completed especially with the season fast approaching.

But the club say a further statement will be released once the formalities have been completed.

A statement read: "Notts County have this morning been given more time to settle their debt to HMRC.

"The High Court have adjourned the case until  July 10  in recognition of the ongoing takeover process.

"Notts fully understand supporters’ frustrations and concerns surrounding the club’s ownership situation but stress that strict confidentiality measures must be adhered to in order to ensure a deal is completed professionally and in line with all regulations.

"As soon as the club are in a position to comment further, a statement will be released."
